Land Rover Discovery Air Suspension: What to Know
Every generation of Discovery — 3, 4 and 5 — is fitted with air suspension as standard, giving a smooth ride and load-levelling ability. It's also one of the most commonly discussed maintenance items on the used market.

The Compressor

The air suspension compressor is the most frequent point of failure. Listen for it running constantly or for longer than usual — this often signals a small air leak somewhere in the system that the compressor is working harder to compensate for. Replacement compressors typically cost £300–£600 fitted.

Air Bags

The air bags themselves can perish over time, particularly on older, higher-mileage cars, leading to a car that visibly sits low on one corner.

Warning Signs

An EAS (Electronic Air Suspension) warning light, uneven ride height, or the car sitting low after being parked overnight are all worth investigating before purchase.

Buying from HMC

Air suspension is checked on every vehicle we prepare for sale, so any issues are identified and dealt with up front.
